The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) chooses Chorus Intelligence to help tackle illegal medicine trading
Chorus Intelligence Ltd, ‘Chorus’, announced today that it will be supporting the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) with its award-winning digital intelligence and investigation software, to crack down on the manufacture, advertising, sale and supply of illegal medicines and devices.
The MHRA is the designated authority that administers and enforces the law on medicines and healthcare products in the UK. It has a range of investigatory powers to support it in achieving this and to ensure the safety and quality of the medical industry.
MHRA’s Criminal Enforcement Unit (CEU), will roll out the Chorus Intelligence Suite (CIS) to support crime analysis, allowing data of significance to be visualised on a map, overlaid, and reported on, to identify connections and suspicious activity.
“Criminals trading illegally in medicines and medical devices have no regard for patient safety and unlicensed products pose a serious risk to public health,” said Sadie Dye, Senior Manager, Intelligence, and Innovation at the MHRA’s CEU. “Chorus will provide us with the tools to search, cleanse, analyse and enrich data to aid us in our work.”
“We are proud to be chosen by such a pertinent and essential government body, to support it in safeguarding the medical industry and public health,” said Neil Chivers, CEO of Chorus Intelligence. “Our technology is built to re-engineer the way that digital investigations are managed, and we are confident that MHRA’s newly adopted analytical capabilities will help it to deliver positive results.”
