Key Location Functionality

Chorus Version 5.5 is in its final stages of testing here at Chorus HQ. We’ll be bringing you lots of improvements to help us stay on top of data integrity but we also have some fantastic new features.

One of these new features relates to key locations and Chorus 5.5 will give you loads more functionality in this area.

Adding Images to Key Locations

A new dialogue box will appear when you right click on the map to add a key location as below. The dialogue box can also be used to add location names over multiple lines and the text colours and background colours can also be configured.

From here you can upload ANY IMAGE from your files that helps to tell the story of your investigation. For example a still from a CCTV camera.

Amending Key Locations

From 5.5 you will have the ability to change the position of the key location by either amending the lat/long or by right clicking on the map. You will also be able to add a key location using a postcode and then manually move it to the position you desire. Finally, you will be able to edit a key location label once it has been added.

Chorus Player

We have improved your ability to see key locations when using the Chorus Player.  Now a key location (whether a pin or another shape) that has been labelled can be seen on the Chorus Player, with the added functionality of being able to move the label of the key location once the Chorus Player has been opened.

Did You Know?

There are many more things you can currently do in Chorus with key locations. Here are two examples:

Bulk Loading via a Proforma

Key locations can also be created in bulk using the ‘Key Locations Proforma’ spreadsheet found on the desktop of every Chorus machine. Simply populate the template, save a copy, and then drag and drop into Chorus. The contents of the file will be created as key locations within the map.

You can download the key locations proforma here.

Change Map Pins in Bulk

Once you have loaded in your key locations, you can edit the icons in bulk from the published files window. Right click on the file and select ‘change icon’.

Fore more information on key locations check out the user guide.
