From the Front-lines to the Chorus Team: Alyssa Berg’s Journey from Investigating Human Trafficking to Empowering Investigators Nationwide

With a background in criminal intelligence and a passion for dismantling human trafficking networks, Alyssa brings a wealth of operational experience and real-world insight to her new role. But her journey with Chorus began not as an employee—but as a CIS user. 

 

A Tool That Made a Difference 

Alyssa first encountered the Chorus Intelligence Suite (CIS) while working with the Tampa Bay Human Trafficking Task Force. Tasked with identifying victims, traffickers, and Johns, she needed a way to quickly analyze phone numbers, uncover hidden social media profiles, and enrich leads from fragmented digital footprints. The CIS, initially accessed via a proof of concept and later a full license, proved to be a game-changer for Alyssa and her team.

“I’m always looking for digital investigation tools to counteract the identity-masking criminals use,” Alyssa explained. “With the CIS, we could run a VOIP number and get back photos, identities, and accounts faster than any other tool I’d used. It was intuitive and stripped away the noise that can distract or overwhelm an investigation.”

At Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), the impact of the CIS on human trafficking operations was tangible. “Whether identifying suspects in John stings or mapping associates in long-term investigations, the CIS helped us pre-identify threats, build social networks, and discover overlooked digital breadcrumbs,” she shared. 

Notably, the Gang Unit at HCSO used the CDR functionality to uncover intricate networks, and the ability to layer OSINT with call data and social media results delivered faster, evidence-driven decisions and deconfliction opportunities. 

 

Joining Chorus: From Client to Colleague 

For Alyssa, transitioning from a user to a team member was a natural evolution. “I’ve always been driven by a desire to help put bad guys away. With Chorus, I saw a chance to amplify that impact—by helping agencies nationwide adopt the very tool that helped me do my job much more effectively.” 

Her decision wasn’t tied to a single event but was shaped by her ongoing interactions with the Chorus team, particularly the Chorus Account Director for HCSO, Jack Hancock. “The level of respect they had for my input, and their genuine mission to support law enforcement, made me want to be part of the team.” 

 

Looking Ahead: A Force Multiplier for Law Enforcement 

In her new role as Customer Success Manager, Alyssa is eager to connect with agencies, train users, and help teams harness the full power of the CIS. Drawing on her deep analytical background and familiarity with competing platforms, she brings a unique, hands-on approach to implementation. 

“I’ve been in their shoes. I understand the real-world pressures and know how to translate features into operational wins. My goal is to make the CIS not just a tool they use—but one they rely on.”
